Hospitals
Not so many years ago, the chaplains of hospitals were provided with detailed lists of Catholic patients, and were able to visit. These days, this information is often not passed on to chaplains, so if you would like to be visited by a priest while in hospital, then please:
1. Make sure that your religion is recorded when you are admitted, and say that you would like the Roman Catholic chaplain to visit. This is important, because if you do not express a wish for a visit, your details will not be passed on.
2. Let your parish priest know that you are going into hospital, so that he can contact the chaplain directly. He may also be able to visit you in person - but only if he knows you are there!
There are two private hospitals in our parish - the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth, and the Wellington Hospital. Priests from the parish are able to visit on request. Also, we make every effort to visit our own parishioners who would appreciate a visit from us, whichever London hospital they are in.
