After some 15 years of planning and preparation the refurbishing of the parish church begain in 2009 and was completed in 2011.
Preparatory works began in Spring 2009, replacing damaged plaster on the walls of the nave and stripping paint from the cast iron columns which are such a feature of the church.
In September 2009 other preliminary works began - removing the organ and its pipework for refurbishing off site, and removing asbestos sheeting from beneath the sanctuary.
Then the principal works got underway - adjusting floor levels to improve accessibility; putting in under-floor heating; installing a new lighting system and a new sound system, - along with a font, a reconciliation chapel and a new space at the east end of the church for devotional prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.
The works were extended to include the installation of the Fleischmann Rosary Triptych, now installed on the South wall of the church, adjacent to the Sanctuary.
The final major work was the completion of the carving which surrounds the Tabernacle.
