Refurbishing the Parish church

This work has been in hand for fifteen years and more. Finally the work has started.

Since spring 2009 preparatory works have been underway, replaing damaged plaster on the walls of the nave and stripping paint from the cast iron columns which are such a feature of the church.

In September other preliminary works are beginning - removing the organ and its pipework for refurbishing off site, and removing asbestos sheeting from beneath the sanctuary.

Then the principal works can begin - adjusting floor levels to improve accessibility; putting in under-floor heating; installing a new lighting system and a new sound system, - along with a font, a reconciliation chapel and a new space at the east end of the church for devotional prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.
