Membership
The current membership of the group is made up of those who ex officio are involved in the catechetical work of the parish.
Activities
Members of the Group currently coordinate the catechetical work to support
· parents’ preparation for the baptism of their first child
· parents and children’s preparation for first celebrations of Sacrament of Penance and of Holy Communion
· teenagers’ preparation for the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation
· couples’ preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage
· the parish Journey of Faith process (RCIA)
The parish provision for continuing Adult Formation consists of
· encouraging individuals and groups to use the Diocesan Faith Sharing materials produced for two six week periods each year (Lent and Autumn)
· occasional parish talks (in the past year these included a series of talks on St Luke’s Gospel by Fr John Hemer and a presentation on the situation of the Church in Iraq by Dr Suha Rassam)
· regular encouragement for parishioners to avail of the resources provided by others for example the diocesan Agency for Evangelisation; the Mount Street Centre; Diocesan Justice and Peace Commission; Westminster Faith Exchange;
· training for those exercising parish ministries e.g. ministers of the word and of Holy Communion; members of parish music groups
