Finance Committee

Purpose

The parish finance committee is established in accordance with the requirements of Canon Law. It has the role of helping the parish priest in the administration of the goods of the parish. The Parish Priest consults the finance committee about any substantial expenditure other than routine expenditure.

Activities

• The finance committee has access to details of parish expenditure and helps the parish priest establish and work to a budget.
• It is invited and encouraged to comment upon any possible economies, or better means of making regular purchases, so that they may genuinely share the responsibility for the parish finances for the benefit of all the parish.
  
• It works with the Gift Aid Organiser to ensure that diocesan procedures are followed and maximum benefit obtained from the Gift Aid scheme.
  
• It assists with the production of the annual report to the parish
  

The finance committee meets at least four times during the year to prepare budget, to measure progress regarding the budget, and to approve the accounts.
