Fr Allen is leading a parish pilgrimage to the Holy Land after Easter 2013. April is a lovely time to visit the Holy Land - before the summer heat builds up, and in the immediate wake of our celebration of the Easter mysteries.
The group will visit for 8 days from 20th to 27th April. We stay first in Tiberias and visit the holy sites in Galilee, Nazareth, Cana, Capernaum, and go for a boat ride on the Lake Galilee. We then make our way via Jehrico and the Dead Sea to Jerusalem. We have the privilege of staying in a religious house right on the Via Dolorosa for four days, which we will spend visit the scenes of the Passion, as well as Bethlehem, the site of the Visitation and of the raising of Lazarus.
Staying in the Old City gives us the opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of this extraordinary city - and visit some of the key religious sites before tourists arrive or after they have left to go back to their more distant hotels. Those who have been pilgrims with Fr Allen before will know that he will be offering special guided visits so those who have the energy can have unique experiences of the Holy sites early and late!
There will be Mass each day. The pilgrimage includes opportunities to celebrate the Sacrament of Penance and Anointing of the Sick, and every opportunity will be taken to ensure you can make your pilgrimage prayerfully and reflectively.
A visit to the Holy Land, to walk where Jesus and the disciples walked, and to see what they saw, is for many people a once in a life time experience. The opportunity to visit the Holy Sites during the coming Year of Faith is a doubly precious one.
