Music is the handmaid of the liturgy. Used skilfully it can facilitate the community’s praying of the liturgy. Used less skilfully it can become a distraction, even a substitute for authentic liturgical worship. The parish’s music ministers place their skills as instruments and singers at the service of the assembly’s prayer.
A variety of musical styles are represented at our parish’s Sunday Masses. There is unaccompanied song at the Saturday 6pm and the Sunday 8am Masses; mostly contemporary music at the 9.30am, 12 noon and 6pm Sunday Masses in the parish church, as well as the 9am Mass at the convent chapel; and plainchant and polyphony are to the fore at the parish’s 10.45am Mass.
