Communion and Mission is a document issued by Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor in 2006, which sets out his pastoral vision for the renewal of the life of the Church in our diocese. It sets out five main priorities:
1. The call to holiness, prayer, and the Eucharist
2. Formation of adults and young people
3. Small communities
5. Structures for participation, change, and accountability
These five priorities have underpinned such initiatives as the development of the diocesan Agency for Evangelisation, and the small groups which continue to meet twice a year in many parishes. The Cardinal wrote that, mindful of the priorities identified in Communion and Mission, 'it is my fervent hope and prayer that all of us in the Diocese will move forward confidently into the next stage of our journey. We know that this is not our effort alone. The grace of God, and the assurance of His presence amongst us, are our strength.'
