Parish of Our Lady

The building of the Church of Our Lady was funded by two sisters Lousie and Jessie Gallini, from a legacy left them by their father, Sir John Gallini who had come to England as a refugee from Italy.  They chose St Johns Wood, and in 1832 a temporary chapel built to serve the mission was established on land leased from the Eyre Estate.  The present church was opened in 1836.

Father Jeffrey is available to answer all enquiries into Baptism, Marriage, Funerals, Mass intentions, house blessings, and other areas where the need may arise for a priest. Please contact one of our priests, in person, for any needs surrounding the sacraments.  You can also reach one of our priests by way of appointment by phoning the parish office at 020 7286 3214.

Music at Our Lady

Our resident, amateur choir was established 1971.  It specialises in the polyphony and plainchant of the Roman Catholic church which you can hear on Sundays at the 10:30 Solemn Sung Mass.  Rehearsals are on Fridays 19:30 - 21:00 and Sundays 9:20 - 10:30.

In addition to its extensive repertoire of early music, the choir occasionally ventures into the Baroque and beyond.  There are 2 orchestral masses a year with accompanied music from talented organists.

With new members joining all along and some of the founder members still singing there is a broad range of ages.  Please read on and let Martin know if you would like to join.
